Cooling panels
Besides the proven high-pressure cooling systems, mobile and stationary low-pressure cooling systems that can also be combined with a soaking system are available to reduce skin surface temperature of pigs. The cooling panels that enable you to cool intake air down to 8°C represent a technical innovation.

Following a Siberian winter with temperatures dropping below the -40°C mark over a period of 3 months it was a true "spring awakening" experience with temperatures over 0°C that greeted and inspired participants at the conference. Seventy high-ranking attendees including directors and executives from pig production units in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus gladly accepted Schauer's invitation.
The Deputy Minister for Animal Husbandry in the Altai region, Mr Anatlevich, opened the event, emphasising the necessity of modernising the pig production units in the region and also mentioning the government's intentions to provide financial support for this in the form of attractive loans.
Karl-Heinz Denk, Marketing and Sales Manager at Schauer Agrotronic GmbH presented the strengths of Schauer in terms of quality, innovative technology that saves feeding costs, competence in planning and project management and solutions for service matters in Russia. It was particularly interesting to present the enormous potential savings in feed costs and possible additional yield in piglet production to the many interested attendees. By using modern feeding technology such as liquid feeding in pig fattening and to feed suckling sows, Spotmix multiphase feeding in piglet rearing and Compident electronic sow feeding for pregnant sows, feed cost savings amounting to € 250,000 per year are possible with a feed saving of 10% compared to the current, good Russian standard, for the company Altair Agro with 1,260 productive sows. An improvement in the number of piglets per sow and year means an additional profit of a further € 135,000 for this company. The company's results (see following box) presented by Director Noskin of Altair Agro confirm and even go as far as surpassing the above assumptions. With 11 employees for the entire pig production, this exemplary Russian company is likewise at the top in its field - further proof of its professionalism. The employees responsible are highly motivated and delighted about the improved quality of their workplace thanks to the implementation of Schauer technology. Director Noskin then took the opportunity to present the premium quality sausages and meats produced in the company's own meat processing unit and sold in several regions of Siberia.

Alexander Schwan, Sales Manager for Russia at Schauer Agrotronic, used his outstanding expertise and experience in pig production to present the detailed solutions in all areas of pig production from the serving pen to the fattening pen and from the feeding systems used to the ventilation, climate and slurry systems. The numerous attendees made for a very lively discussion and provided an interesting exchange of experience.
The highlight of the conference, however, was without doubt the subsequent tour of the pig production unit. Ever single visitor, led by the Deputy Minister and the numerous Directors of pig production units from all regions of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, were fascinated by the perfect realisation of a high-quality west European standard in production technology. The animal specialists responsible at Altair Agro were proud to give the keen visitors a guided tour of the animal housing facilities. It was also possible to view the individual building phases and erection work thanks to the second stage which is currently being built and a mirror image of the central walkway. "Perfect Clean" – high-pressure water cleaning system for liquid feed tanks is an optional pressure boosting system for the integrated paddle agitator cleaning complete with installation package also for retrofitting on existing systems for perfect cleanliness.

Retrofit kit to change old farrowing crates
to self-catching crates suitable for all makes.
The 1 January 2013 deadline that marks the official end of farrowing crates for sows is drawing closer. Besides the increased space requirements for loose farrowing systems, many pig breeders are asking the legitimate question why they should have to scrap their "good old" farrowing crates. THEY DO NOT NEED TO! With its clamp-on self-catching rocker gate, Schauer offers a conversion kit for your old farrowing crates which can then also still be used for keeping sows in groups. The rocker solution is much more reliable in terms of the catching action compared to the "saloon-style" gates and is also better at preventing 2 sows from entering. Schauer's conversion kit is also particularly cost-efficient!
 
Feeding oil to suckling pigs

The idea of adding oil to the feed of suckling pigs is nothing new but was previously restricted to a maximum of 2% due to feeding technology limitations. Oil feeding can considerably increase the energy content and thus energy intake of suckling pigs along the lines of "the more the merrier". Thanks to Spotmix oil feeding, technical restrictions are now a thing of the past. An oil feeding system that runs parallel to the main feed line can admix oil to the feed precisely with exact portions. Field results show that amounts of a quarter of a litre per sow and year increase performance remarkably, increase the weaning weights of the piglets considerably and also shorten the time between litters. 
 
Turbo conveyor for CCM and mineral nutrients
The classic conveyor with fixed or flexible spiral screws is often stretched to the limit when it comes to difficult feed such as CCM or some mineral nutrients. Whether it is because the differences in height it has to handle are too much for the short distances, the feed room is too small or because some types of feed, due to the special hygroscopic properties, become deposited on the walls of the conveyor screws and can therefore be a threat to operational safety. Schauer has developed these new turbo conveyors especially for this purpose and these difficult feed types. The turbo conveyors can be used with all systems and makes.

The fully automatic TMR feeding with Transfeed DEC feeding robot is gathering momentum. The multiple feed storage and individual recipe compilation increases feed intake and, as a result, the milk yield of cows and the growth rate of fattening bulls. A new tilting pre-storage system has been developed for the convenient filling of the pre-storage bins that enables level container access. The Schauer pre-storage bunker is ideal for corn and maize silage, from the silo block cutter, and round and square bales, thus offering the perfect functional addition to the Transfeed DEC TMR feeding robot for more quality of life and convenience in your cattle unit.

New pendulum scraper

From now on absolutely level floor surfaces without guide rail are no problem. Thanks to the new pendulum scraper, guide rails are no longer necessary. Scraper systems for the removal of manure have been working successfully in many places for a number of years. However, over the years, the guide channels that are cemented into the ground become worn due to day-to-day use and through corrosion. Refurbishments are costly and involve a lot of time and labour. Schauer now has the ideal solution for this. As an optional extra, all scraper types can now be used with a side guide (utility patent pending) that means the (broken) guide rail is no longer necessary. No space is lost when it is parked.
